Time: 9pm, Sundays
Place: The Arch House Back Porch
So I live at this little house with this great back porch area. Our Stake has the ludicrous idea that Ward Prayer and Ward Break-the-Fast is not important. (And yet they continually prod us to date and ultimately get married...)
Perfect for social gatherings, I really wanted to implement our back porch into an area for a ritual ward social (I want to be popular so bad!). After a feeble attempt at a Sunday Game Night, Dessert Night became the new theme.
Advertising: Wrote it on the whiteboard in Sunday School (a co-ed setting), my roommate announced it after sacrament (which is last in our ward).
Observing the Event: About five people showed up on time, and by 9:20 40% of the ward was in attendance. Drinks were in high demand, everyone brought brownies. There wasn't any music because it was Sunday, but that didn't seem to be a problem. Towards the end, people began to drop away, leaving a more intimate setting for those interested in games, (or ballroom dancing for that matter).
This event has officially been dubbed: SUCCESS
8.5 out of 10
Notes for next time:
-drinks on the ready
-make something other than brownies
Lesson learned: food = friends
